Tetris / City at Night

I thought about doing a pop art piece. Growing up in the 70's, my pop
references weren't comic book. I was in to video games, simple, basic,
graphical video games. Tetris seemed a natural choice because my grid
style has many elements in common with the game. Working with this
painting I could also see some of the elements of my style developing.
This was the first time I tried making the grid lines becoming open flat
black fields. I liked how this looked and I know I will use it on more
paintings. As a secondary interpretation, I see a cityscape at night
with the moon overhead.
